Hams WB3EFA, K3HQI, N3DQB, KC3EWN and KC3BOJ provided safety coverage for the 2019 Walk to End Alzheimer’s at Rudy Park in York, PA on October 26. There were several hundred walkers, more than we have seen for this or any other event at this park. With some of the walkers having medical conditions it was deemed good for the course to be monitored. The York ARES RACES SKYWARN (YARS) provided the support. There were no problems, the desired outcome. The lead for the event asked if we will be available next year.
YARS handles several events in this park and other locations and member s work with the adjacent counties, mainly the adjacent Cumberland, Adams and Lancaster Counties, supporting their larger events. There is a lot of good interaction in both directions, if we have a bad day, we will not be exchanging business cards.
