paNBEMS Net Sets Two Records on Sunday December 1, 2019

The Pennsylvania Narrow Band Emergency Messaging System (paNBEMS) Sunday Morning Net and its members set two records today.

K3HPS, John, from Butler, PA, made his 100th consecutive check-in without a miss today. He is on his way to collecting his 2nd Perfect Check-in Plaque from the paNBEMS net.

The 2nd record for today was a net check-in record of 61. K3EUI, Barry, from West Chester, PA, who is the paNBEMS Net Manager and was in the big chair as the Net Control today garnered a record number of check-ins. There were 43 Pennsylvania Stations and stations from 7 other states who combined to set the record. We had check-ins from as far south as Burlington, NC, and as far west as Haines Corners, WI, today.

The paNBEMS net started almost 10 years ago under KB3FXI and has continued under various Net Managers over that time. The record keeping goes back to January of 2015. There were times when the entire month’s check-ins did not total 61.

The paNBEMS net uses the Fldigi suite of programs (Fldigi, Flmsg, & Flamp) created by W1HKJ, Dave Freese, every Sunday morning for fun and experience using these great digital communications tools. The net starts at 7:30AM Eastern for early check-ins, kicks into high gear at 8:00AM, and generally ends at 9:00AM. There are messages that contain information of general interest and some that contain some good jokes. All stations are welcome to bring a flmsg message about their favorite topic to the net.

The net meets on 3583.0 KHz, Upper Sideband, with a center frequency of 1500Hz on the Fldigi waterfall. The initial mode for check-ins is Thor22. The call up is done by PEMA areas inside Pennsylvania and then by call region. During the pre-net any station any where can respond to the NCS call for check-ins.

You can get your copy of the Fldigi programs at the W1HKJ website. http://www.w1hkj.com.

Wake up early on a Sunday and join us. There is already talk of 62 check-ins.
