Online Resources for Club Leadership

The ARRL website has some excellent resources for club leaders to employ to make their organizations more successful in attracting and keeping members. There are recommendations, programs and content to make club meetings and events more interesting and beneficial. The following links will take you to some of the ARRL’s best resources for clubs:

Active Club Online Primer: This pdf document explains categories of ARRL club affiliation, the benefits of affiliation and how to become and affiliated club. It also details the Special Service Club Program and offers ideas on activities as well as a host of methods to maintain member interest. This should be required reading for all club leaders.

ARRL Convention and Hamfest Primer: This is a guide for organizers of amateur radio events. It addresses key principles for organizing a hamfest or ARRL event, discusses advance planning, engaging committee members, touches on the importance of financial planning, navigating the landscape of exhibits, crafting engaging programs, the art of promoting your hamfest and organizing volunteer amateur radio exams.

The MARCONI Program: The MARCONI Program was developed by the Meriden Amateur Radio Club as part of a grant from the ARRL. The project is designed to assist clubs to become more active and engaged with their members and their local community. As well as a reference to the early innovator of radio, the name is an acronym for Motivating Amateur Radio Clubs to Open New Initiatives. This resource includes pdf documents detailing successful programs involving POTA-Parks on the Air, Fox Hunting, CW Training, Satellite Communications, VE Sessions, Served Agencies and Balloon Science.
