Sunday nights at 8 PM choose ID#60328 on your C4FM radio and join the statewide WIRES-X net. The Keystone-Wide room, (formerly the Uniontown Amateur Radio Club’s Keystone-West room) is now open to everyone in Pennsylvania and elsewhere. Steel City ARC’s Christine Rial, N3LRG, reports that the net has already attracted as many as 50 hams including folks from as far away as Australia.
Most Yaesu radios have C4FM (WIRES-X) functionality, but if you’re unfamiliar with how it all works, here are a few tips.
Perhaps the easiest way to connect to a WIRES-X room is by connecting to a local repeater that’s part of the WIRES-X international network of internet connected nodes. There’s a list of Pennsylvania repeaters with that capability right here: https://www.repeaterbook.com/repeaters/feature_search.php?state_id=42&type=YSF.
If you’d like to know more about WIRES-X including how to setup your own WIRES-X node checkout a series of YouTube videos by John Kruk, N9UPC, including this webinar on the subject: https://youtu.be/t9VVkx0ANas
