Thanks to everyone who has been checking into the Pennsylvania Traffic
Net.
CW Nets are inherently different from Voice Nets.
CW nets use Q-Codes where three letter combinations beginning with the
letter “Q” are used as a shorthand version of common phrases. Certain
codes are used at different times.
Also, there are specific check in procedures for CW Nets which differ
from how we do things on phone.
Basic procedures are followed on every net, whether CW or phone. Here’s
a chance to remove some of the mystery from the CW Net. We will be
discussing our own Pennsylvania Traffic Net procedures, but they may be
applied on any CW net.
As part of our continuing goal of offering training for Hams, we will
hold a special Zoom session on Monday, April 12th at 7:30 PM to discuss
proper CW procedures and prowords.
Scott Richards, N3SW, PTN Net Manager and EPA Section Traffic Manager
will be the instructor. Scott has many years’ experience with CW and
Phone nets. He is also one of the PTN Net Controls.
Registration is required. Please email to w3gwm@arrl.org to register for
this training.
