It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Carter Craigie, N3AO. Carter was known to so many in the EPA as well as in his most recent home in Blacksburg, Virginia. Carter was a man of many talents and was always a gentleman and friend to so many in the amateur radio community. Carter was 86.

Carter served as the Chester County ARES Emergency Coordinator from 2005-2007 and was instrumental in helping to mold an extremely successful emcomm unit which became the blueprint for many ARES units in the EPA. He was an avid CW and QRP operator and accomplished many significant achievements in amateur radio. You can read about Carter on his QRZ page.

Carter’s wife, Kay, N3KN, served as the EPA Section Manager in 1986 and was chosen as the 15th ARRL President in 2010. Carter and Kay, an amateur radio power couple, served our community with honor and distinction, yet always remained affable and humble.

For those who knew Carter personally, he always wore a sincere smile and had kind words to share. We will miss him greatly.
