Brandmeister Hotspots

If you have tried to check in on our EPA DM Net on PA Crossband 31425 on Thursdays at 7:00 PM EST and have wondered how come the net wasn’t running, or if you’ve wondered where I was, it seems Brandmeister made a change to the way Hotspots work and I didn’t know about it.

Since both of my Hotspots were no longer set up correctly due to the change, I couldn’t figure out what happened that a system that once worked no longer functioned regardless of which of my Hotspots I used.

Here’s a post I’ve copied from alinco-dj-md5@groups.io

These simple instructions should work for reprogramming most Hotspots using Brandmeister. If your DMR quit working suddenly, maybe this will help you.

Hope to see you on the DM net on Thursday evening.

If you have not been paying attention (Like I wasn’t) then you may not know that Brandmeister recently implemented a requirement that in order for you to use a hotspot with their network you will need to have a password enabled, and not just “passw0rd.”

Log into Brandmeister.
Go to SelfCare
Turn on the password feature.
Set a password
Save the password you set.

Now…

Go to your hotspot program and make sure that the password is set to your new password.
Here is a good little video on the subject:  https://youtu.be/y7tnj4No5O0
