Activity Suspensions

posted in: News Articles

Well, I guess everyone has been following the news. There’s not much more I can say about that.

As you probably already know, the Dayton Hamfest has been canceled.

The Warminster ARC Hamfest scheduled for May 3rd has also been canceled. This is a disappoint because that Hamfest was going to be the Eastern Pennsylvania Section Convention.

I have not received information about other Hamfests scheduled for our section, but I believe it’s a safe assumption that other Hamfests will also be canceled this Spring.

To conform to the CDC and Pennsylvania State Guidelines, I am suggesting that all club meetings, VE Sessions, Hamfests and other activities be postponed until after June 1st. I am extending my previous message by one month.

I will not be visiting any clubs, but if any clubs are interested in teleconferences, I will send you a link to share with your members and they can check in to the meeting from their homes. Just contact me.

At the present time, this is not a communications emergency. All normal methods of communications are working. We have NOT activated any county ARES, but this situation is fluid and constantly changes. Check with your local EC and standby if needed.

In the meantime, follow CDC and state guidelines. Stay away from anyone who is ill. Wash your hands frequently. Maintain social distancing. The stores will be restocked after this weekend’s panic buying.

Try to relax and ignore the news that is trying to scare you. Use the extra time at home to get on the air and makes some contacts.

Join us on the EPAEPTN at 6 PM every evening on 3917 KHz. Everyone, regardless of experience level, is welcome.

I’m also monitoring DMR Talk Group 3142 Pennsylvania Wide if anyone needs to contact me. I’m also available by email and phone.
