Amateur Radio is having a growth spurt! That’s right, and it’s coming from young people. In this first video episode of “What Hams Do” we hear from 3 young people, ranging in age from 11 to 18, who talk about their ham radio journey. Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) seem to be a common theme among all these extraordinary young folks, but they do have other interests as well. One is a dancer, and another is involved in scouting.
But wait, there’s more…
“What Hams Do” has a news segment with former CBS Philadelphia reporter Jay Silber (the ARRL Eastern Pennsylvania Public Information Coordinator as the anchor) and a special guest co-anchor – an Amateur Radio Operator just starting her Freshman year at Case Western Reserve. The Eastern PA ARRL Section Manager joins us to talk about youth in ham radio and we have a special guest appearance by an amazing ham whose perseverance and persistence is more than admirable. You won’t want to miss this powerful story.
You can click on the link (https://youtu.be/8T3JmUze7JQ) at any time prior to the show and see a countdown timer. There’s a reminder button as well so you don’t miss the event. In a YouTube Premiere, chat is live, so principles in the show and others from around the ARRL will be there. Join us!!!
Please forward this message to any friends or family members who know young people who might be interested in amateur radio, or perhaps have disabilities and could find ham radio a really useful hobby.
